Parent-Teacher Organization


The PTO is an invaluable asset to Woodlawn. This organization offers support in the form of volunteer help, contributions to school improvements and curriculum development, sponsorships fundraisers.
 
Examples of school projects:

Accelerated Reader store, savings bonds for top Accenerated Readers, food for Teacher Appreciation Day, popcorn parties recognizing good behavior, food for 5th grade graduation, collect can goods for the Salvation Army and Urban ministries, trophies and ribbons for Talent Show winners, computer hardware such as printers and drives, outside tables/benches, planters, upgrading playground, stage, blinds, landscaping, Arbor, school marque, play equipment, metal chairs storage cart, supplies and equipment for art and music departments.
   
Fund raising includes:

Fall fund raiser--biggest money project; selling school tee-shirts, sock hop and concessions, skate night ($1.50

out of $3.00) and PTO membership ($3.00 per member)

PTO Membership: If you have questions about PTO and its membership,

you may contact the school office, 931-648-5680. Membership is $3.00. Membership dues

are not sent to any other organization. Dues are used by the PTO to support

school projects.
 
PTO Projects completed

BMAR and PTO teamed up and purchased Read Naturally software to help build reading fluency and Cornerstone software to assess instruction for 3rd,4th, 5th grades in math, language and reading.

Oct. 27th- Family Reading Night 6:00-7:30 pm

Nov. 18th- Sock Hop ( Family Involvement Night)

Dec. 1st-15th Food, Mitten, Hat Drive

Feb. 23rd Science Fair 6:00-7:00pm

March 2nd- Read Across America Day (during school hours)

April 7th- Culmination for Library Week & Kick off for Terra Nova Testing

May 5th- Fine Arts Festival & Election of 2006 PTO officers

May 8th-12th- Teacher Appreciation Week Activity
