RHS Library Policies
Library Holdings
The Rossview High School Library Media Center provides a wide
array of materials including approximately 15,000 books, 55 magazine
subscriptions, and daily subscriptions to the Clarksville Leaf
Chronicle, the Nashville Tennessean, and USA Today. Multimedia
materials available include videos, CD-ROM, DVD and audiobooks on cassette, CD and digital MP-3 players (Playaways).
Specialized reference sources include general encyclopedias, special
subject encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, atlases, and extensive
biographies.
Materials Circulation
Check-Out Period: Books - 2 weeks; Magazines - 1 day; Audiobooks - 2 weeks
Fines: 25 cents per day per item
Unlimited materials may be checked out (unless fines are
owed)
Return materials in the library book drop at the circulation
desk.
Printing Services
Student copier: 10 cents per page (coin operated - takes dimes
only)
Computer copier: 10 cents per page (pay at the circulation
desk)

Electronic Resources
24 computer workstations are equipped to access card catalog
(Alexandria Researcher), the Internet*, CD-ROM databases, and other
specialized reference sources. Word processing is available upon
request.
To search for RHS library materials on the web, go to http://rhslibrary.cmcss.net.
In the library, use "Alexandria Researcher" and search by author,
title, subject or "any word (keyword).
To access Grolier Online (a paid subscription database that
includes Encyclopedia Americana, Grolier Multimedia
Encyclopedia, The New Books of Knowledge, and The New
Book of Popular Science), go to http://auth.grolier.com/login/go_login_page.html from any Internet browser or go to the RHS Library Home page. The
username is "cmcss" and the password is "grolier".
To access Electric Library on the Internet (another paid database
with magazines, newspaper articles, pictures, books, TV/radio show
transcripts,and maps), go to http://elibrary.bigchalk.com/libweb/elib/do/search.
The username is subclark37040 and the password is 12527.
To access Visual Thesaurus (great for writing projects), go to http://www.visualthesaurus.com/subscriberlogin.do?success=%2f to log in. The username is "teacher@cmcss.net" and the password is "learn".
To access PowerMedia Plus (a database of video clips on curriculum standards), go to http://www.powermediaplus.com/. Teacher password for RHS is e9UM4hj9gm and student password is 6TcQ3wwu2i.
*Internet access is reserved for school research projects only.
Students may check email ONLY before and after school, NOT during
class time.
Advisory Passes
Students may come to the library to check out books, do school
research, or pay overdue fines during advisory each day. A yellow
checkout pass, signed by the library staff before classes begin each day, is required for admittance.
Students must sign in at the circulation desk upon entering the
library and place their passes in the "in" basket. Overdue notices are
also acceptable hall passes for advisory. Passes will be placed in
teacher boxes by the end of the day for accountability purposes.
