ÒPoetry
lifts the veil from the hidden beauty of the world,
and makes
familiar objects be as if they were not familiar.Ó
Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822)
You are just a kid. So how can you possibly create,
illustrate, and publish your own original poems? Not a problem.
By the end of this school year you will have done all that and more! It's fun and it's easy! Get ready as you embark on a poetic adventure,
which you will continue throughout the remainder of this school year!
Poetry is a creative form
of expression that people have used for centuries. Poetry is not limited to rhyme but includes many different
forms. Learning about the many
types of poetry can be exciting when it is broken down into baby steps that are
easy to understand. And whatÕs the
easiest and best way to really understand something new? Hands-on experience! ThatÕs right, you are not going to just
learn about poetry, you are actually going to become a published author!
Are you ready? Then let your poetry adventure begin!
